Theodore D. Bratton
Ted is Chairman of the Board of Wake Stone Corporation, a family owned and operated mining business that was started by his father in 1970. Under his management, the company has successfully expanded to four operations in North Carolina and one in South Carolina, all of which were new quarry developments rather than acquisitions. Through this growth, Ted has experience in all aspects of mining including prospecting, construction, environmental issues, permitting, mine expansion and compliance.
Ted is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Immediately after college, he began to work full time for Wake Stone. Ted has a background in operations, beginning with his first job as a Pit Foreman at the company’s second location.
A Raleigh native, Ted remains active in the community. He has served on various local and industry boards, including the Saint Mary’s Board of Trustees, the Umstead State Park Advisory Committee, the Boys and Girls Clubs, Christ Church Vestry, the North Carolina Mining Commission and the North Carolina Aggregates Association.
